Susi decided we needed to go to Olathe, Kansas to the Old Settlers Fair for a free concert of Josh Gracin. (Our 4th) She wanted to take McKenna and KaLynn since they love him too.
Susi picked me up in a rental car Sat. morn but the cig. lighter didn't work so we couldn't charge our phones or use the GPS and we were like wth. We decided to take it back to the rental place and make them exchange it. We ended up with a better car that actually worked. lol We hit the road... late... after making up time ;) we found our hotel like 4+ hours later... I believe it was a Fairfield? anyways it was super cool with orange, blue, and green decor. We got dressed and headed for the fair... after getting seriously lost cause the directions the hotel girl gave were so not clear and they somehow got confused with our room number.. ROFL We finally got there, parked and snagged our 4 spots in second row. Where we set for like 4 hours. Susi and McKenna headed into the fair portion for food. We ended up with cardboard chicken fingers? and rootbeer... then we got attacked by bees after our rootbeer.
We bought josh hats, shirts, and keychains. It was super nice outside so the waiting wasn't bad. First up was Jarrod Neimmon. He wrote some pretty popular songs for other artists and is now trying his hand at being a country star.
After him Josh came on!!!
He was amazing as always!!! He sang several new songs and some he wrote a week before hand. They were amazing as well. I think both Susi and my fave part was when Josh began to sing "Stay with Me" and would get as far as "clock on the wall is..." then quit and would say "I think I hear another song in this.. see listen..." and he'd start to sing it again... pretty soon he breaks into "Hold on to the Night" by Richard Marx... then blended it back in to "Stay with Me" needless to say it was amazing and hilarious when another band member held up a lighter.
During his encore we decided to go stand in line to get his autograph. He signed our hats and the girls shirts. Then we got back in line for photos and we got a group photo with him...He said something about the girls being too short and asked if they minded him picking them up... of course they didn't mind they both think he's their boyfriend. ROFL The girls gave him the pictures they drew for him. Too cute. We left all giggly and fan girlish with the windows down and Josh blaring. We always are kicking ourselves after because we never can manage to say anything more to him then "awesome concert and thanks for the autographs/pic". We are going to memorize something to say next time... We stopped at Wendys and headed back to the hotel.
We got up at 8:30am to get the free breakfast and get ready to go "The Legends" outdoor mall in Kansas City. I wanted to go to the CCO that I hear so much about on the youtube makeup tutorials. I thought it'd be super big and filled with all different brands of cheap cosmetics but no... they only carried Mac, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Bobbi Brown. I was like wth? I did end up buying an Estee Lauder bag filled with makeup... I really just wanted the bag for $17.00.
We then went in to TJMax where I pretty much found my dream boots (over the knee black suede) except the price was CRAZY... I ended up with them though.... ROFL shhhh Leather...
I'm still having buyers remorse... I wouldn't have a prob at all but wearing the boots I'm 6'2..... lol I also bought my mom a (FRANCO) purse from Wilson's Leather.
We then ate at Cheeseburger Paradise (restaurant by Jimmy Buffett) Then we hit the road to head to Missouri to go to the Titanic to pick up the infamous blue heart charm that I lost from my trip with PAL. We kept stopping and driving back and forth over the border of Ks/Mo cause we couldn't find any postcards/shot glasses with Ks on them :( we got super behind and knew the Titanic closed at 8pm and the GPS said our ETA was 9:45pm. We got bummed cause we were like we drove all this way and we're so not going to make it in time. + the GPS took us some crazy country roads... After Susi made up time pretending to be one of the first women Nascar drivers we made it at 7:30pm. We got to the giftshop and picked up our charms/suckers. And then took some pics outside before heading to Wendy's in Branson and getting the hottest chicken known to mankind... (totally inedible fyi don't get the buffalo boneless chicken OMG) Susi was all we are so NOT driving back through Arkansas to get home... but alas all of a sudden we were in Arkansas ROFL and lost in the same spot PAL was lost. We kept turning around to get on the right highway. The GPS had us driving through a forest... we were driving through towns that were like "pop. 75" and the roads were soooo winding............
We FINALLY made it back to Oklahoma and to Susi's house where we unloaded the rental and then we dropped the rental off and Susi brought me home. *sighs* i miss our roadtrip and josh......
